---Andy Mott is an interesting character. Nobody knew Andy had a fake leg, until swimming practice then the swim team knew. He slowly tells the story of how he lost his leg over the time of the swim season. He acts like he doesn't like when people ask him questions about his leg, but then every once in a while on the bus he'll say "how come you guys never asked me about my leg..." and then he'll spill out something about his life, and then he'll shut up and not say any more until another bus ride.
---Here is part of the story that Andy Mott tells the swim team on the bus about his life. When Andy was little his moms boyfriend ruined his memories of childhood. He tied Mott's leg to some type of pipe. Andy got gangrene from awful moment and he had to get he leg cut off. Although after it was cut off, Andy's mom's boyfriend didn't want to be turned in so he gave them enough money to pay for his fake leg.
---Andy also is one of the most courageous people out there. He is always racking up detentions, one after the other. It shows in the book one reason for one of his detentions was at a pep-rally when Mott heard people talking about him, he gave the crowd a double middle finger. This is not the only thing Andy has courageously done let me assure you of that. He is alwas talking and acting where he doesn't care what people think of him and he doesn't care how many detentions he rackes up. At the end of the year Andy gets the award for most courageous and I agree that award fits him well.
---Andy has a mighty sence of humor. He is often making jokes with and about those on the swim team.
---Over all Andy Mott is a very interesting and attention catching character in this story. Although we don't learn all of Andy's backround by reading this book, it is easy to conclude Andy has not had a very easy up bringing and it has taken alot to get Andy where he is today.

Andy mott was a great character. what happened to him in his life was very tragec. i could not imagine that happening to anyone i know. i believe he was a very important person to the story. He did have emotional issues but that added tothe story. Can you imagine coming in your house to see your son tied to the bottom of your sink, its horrible. I think its great that he could open up to the swim team like that.that all of the students could open up to the swim team. it was like a therapy sesion that was free without a shrink. i think it would be great to have the kind of family to fall back on inside the school grounds. the story would not have been the same without Andy Mott, dont you agree?
(haha, is that a paragraph? )
I agree with pretty much everything that was said in this blog. He deffinatly has a great sense of humor and is a great character. its so sad about what happened to him in his life. If i were him, I wouldn't be able to be so humorous. He deffinatly adds more drama to the story. Wouldn't you agree?
I really liked that you said that Andy's award for most courageous fits him well, because I agree. I really loved Andy's character because he was this person who we didn't expect to be funny or be able to open up to a group of people like that. I really liked that he did have the courage to tell the swim team about all of the emotional hurdles he's had to go through in his life, even though it was only like one every bus ride. He really brought a lot of color to the story and I loved when he was looking out for Chris. I loved how he didn't care about what others thought and how he just was who he was and that was that. But imagine if you were his mom? How would you feel knowing that your boyfriend caused your son to have to have a prosthetic leg? I wonder if she even knew that her son was molested by her boyfriend. I feel bad for Andy because I don't get the sense that his mom cares like she should. What do you think? Great blog!
I agree with Kyla, Andy's mom should have really watched out for him a whole lot more, especialy becuase she should have known that her boyfriend was not a good influence for her son. Also you would think that she'd have known not to leave her son alone with a guy who would do somthing like that to her own son. I really feel bad for Andy.
